New Patients Welcome!

Distal Jet
Headgear is no longer necessary. A distal jet appliance is attached to the upper teeth to gradually shift the upper molars back into place without requiring patient cooperation. Once the upper molars are correctly positioned, upper and lower braces are applied to achieve the final desired alignment.

Elastics (Rubber Bands)
Make sure to wear your elastics (rubber bands) as directed to improve the alignment of your upper and lower teeth. Following the instructions for wearing rubber bands will help them work more effectively.

Herbst® Appliance
The Herbst® appliance helps reduce overbite by promoting the lower jaw forward and the upper molars backward. Typically used for younger, growing children, this fixed appliance is worn for approximately 12-15 months.

Palatal Expander
The palatal expander gradually widens your upper jaw by applying gentle pressure to your upper molars during each adjustment. Your orthodontist will provide guidance on when and how to adjust the expander. Once the desired expansion is achieved, you will need to wear the appliance for several months to maintain the results and prevent any regression.

Retainers
Retainers can be either removable or fixed and are used to maintain the correct position of your teeth after straightening. Your orthodontist will provide instructions on how to care for your retainer and how long you should wear it. It is important to wear your retainer as directed to prevent any regression of your treatment.

Separators or Spacers
Please remember that separators are small rubber doughnuts that are used to create space between your teeth for orthodontic bands. They will be taken out before the bands are placed. Avoid sticky foods, toothpicks, and floss while wearing separators.
